Eng. Lamya Abdelhady

Sector Head of Private Projects, Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC)

  • Worked as a project engineer  for about 15 years in EEA ( Egyptian Electricity Authority)- Now EEHC.
  • Worked since 2007 in private renewable energy projects in EETC.
  • Responsible for the following projects:
  1. BOO 250 MW wind project in Gulf of Suez (tender opening was in 19th of April).
  2. BOO 10x20 MW PV solar projects in Kom Ombo- Aswan.
  3. Egypt FIT program with the target of achieving 2000 MW wind projects and 2300 MW PV projects (136 were qualified in January 2015- Project agreements are drafted).

Dr. Ahmed Badr

Executive Director, Regional Center Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE)

Dr. Ahmed Badr joined RCREEE as of 1st of August,2015 as the new Executive Director. Dr. Badr has more than 20 years of international experience in several senior operational positions in the field of renewable energy, water and infrastructure in most of the multinational financial institutions, namely The World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Commission, and Japan Bank for International Cooperation. Dr. Badr is civil engineer graduated from Ain Shams University June 1990, has a PhD in Renewable Energy from Springfield University, Illinois - USA, plus two master degrees as one in civil engineering from Springfield University, Illinois – USA and the other one in Project Management in Innovation Economics from Univrsite de Nantes, France. Dr. Badr is married and has two children, both in preparatory school stage.

Dr. Sherif Oteifa

Ministry of Investment, Advisor to the Minister of Investment

Dr. Sherif Oteifa is an advisor to the Minister of Investment, Egypt for infrastructure projects and Public-Private Partnership. He is active in research and policy issues related to infrastructure and setting up guidelines for successful PPPs to ensure open market access, fair competition, protecting public interests and maximizing value added.

Since 1997 he had participated in engineering and financial studies for major real estate and private finance initiatives of infrastructure projects undertaken in Egypt. He holds:

  • A diploma in Housing Finance, Wharton School
  • A Ph.D. in Construction Economics & Management, Loughbrough University of Technology, UK, 1991
  • MSc. Construction Management, Loughbrough University of Technology, UK, 1989
  • BSc. Civil Engineering, Al-Azhar University, 1986, Egypt

Dr. Oteifa is the co-author of two books for the International Labor Office, Geneva on international bid preparation, in addition, he has participated in several research projects in the field of project management and construction finance. He has published numerous articles in the areas of engineering economics and project management.

Dr. Oteifa has carried out several assignments to many international donor agencies such as ILO, GTZ and JICA. He also served as an engineering advisor to the Minister of Health in Egypt and participated in the preparation of the marketing and financial studies of Egypt's premier post graduate Nile University.

Mohamed Elsherif

Mohamed Elsherif is the CEO of LOGIC Management Consulting. He is an Energy veteran with more than 18 years in the Energy field working in the oil & gas sector with BP and ABB while working in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors from policy side with the Egyptian government. Moreover, Mohamed consulted local and regional government and private sector players in the energy sector.

Hassan Amin

Hassan Amin has more than 25 years of experience in the field of power in both Conventional and Renewable energy.  He is also one of the main reasons behind the success of many projects and he is now the Regional Manager and board member of ACWA Power Egypt as well as other subsidiaries, also Executive committee member in the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency.

Eng. Amin who speaks Arabic, French and English fluently has occupied several key positions, one of which was the Chief Executive Officer of Triangle Electro-Mechanical Projects from August 2012 till January 2015.  Also, he was the General Manager of the electricity sector at Arab Engineering & Distribution Company from December 2003 till July 2012. Moreover, he held the title of Project Manager and Techno Commercial Manager at Alstom from 1988 till 2003.

As for his overseas education, Hassan Amin has received many studies in the field of power control.  These studies has allowed him to work at different multinational companies where he had worked in different projects in Egypt, France, Germany and Belgium.   Amin graduated from Faculty of Engineering, Electricity /Computer and Automation section in 1987.

She was part of the very 1st staff of the regulator, responsible for all licensing process, analysis and performance compliance for generation, transmission and distribution companies. Creating with the licensing team several annual technical performance evaluation reports guiding to enhance the generation performance in the energy sector. ERA member at MEDREG RES group, REARESA renewable energy portfolio committee, Eastern African Power Pool (EAPP) and Independent regulatory board (IRB) and Women in Energy steering committee. Shared as a consultant on the RE database for Africa.

Atter Hannoura

Director of PPP Central Unit, Ministry of Finance, Egypt

Eng. Atter Hannoura has 31 years of professional working experience in different capacities and business sectors.

Eng. Hannoura is a PPP procurement and contract management professional, with all-round business experience mainly gained from working for the multilateral Organizations since 1997 (USAID 1 year then the World Bank for 9 years) as a Management Information System (MIS) and procurement expert, which where extended to full Project Management, Financing and Contract Management in the MENA Region.

Eng. Hannoura worked as a deputy general manager, Business development Director and Vice President for different Regional and Local Organizations with a strong direct to customer's experience. Such variance provided high exposures in senior and broadly based wider commercial aspects such as legal, logistics, sales and distribution, experience in business aspects in the Egyptian and Middle Eastern markets, as well as the implementation of total business and technology solutions, which was coupled by broad exposure to various cross-functional commercial and corporate affairs.

Since Feb 1st, 2007, Eng. Atter Hannoura has joined the Ministry of Finance of the Egyptian Government to participate in establishing the PPP Central Unit ,in the capacity of the Director of the Central Department for PPP Projects and Tendering Affairs Contract Manager responsible for implementing PPP initiative on a national basis.. And in May 2011 Eng. Hannoura was promoted to be the Director of the PPP Central Unit.

Executive Director - Central Unit for Sustainable Cities & Renewable Energy, New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA)

Dr. Hend Farouh is the Executive Director of the Central Unit for sustainable Cities and Renewable energy in the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA). She is also an Associate Professor of Sustainable Architecture & Urban Development at Egypt’s Housing and Building National Research Center. She is a European Energy Manger (Eurem) licensed for Egypt (2013-2016) and has successfully completed a post doctorate studies (2011) in "Green Technologies for Environmental Planning and Design ", Politecnico di Torino, Italy. Dr. Hend has more than 15 years of experience in sustainable design and urban planning, implementing sustainability strategy, and fostering community participation to support such endeavors. She is specialized in interdisciplinary development projects national and international such as productive low cost environmentally friendly village, new medina from pilot towns to sustainable cities, sustainable architecture and the modern techniques of stabilized earth and green pyramid rating system for new construction and for sustainable community. She has Master’s and Doctorate in Environmental Planning and Design, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University and she also holds a Bachelor’s degree with Honor Degree, Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University.

Prof. Wael Abdelmoez

Professor of Environment & Energy, Minia University

Prof. Wael Abdelmoez is a Professor of Environment & Energy at Minia University. For almost 10 years he was studying and working in Japan. He established a center for the development of projects and technology scientific research to be a nucleus of a boost domestic manufacturing. His research focuses in the fields of water and renewable energy. Through an integrated team of engineers and researchers he has succeeded locally manufacturing units for water desalination, grey water recycling as well as industrial wastewater treatment in many factories across Egypt. In addition, he built the first hybrid solar drying system for fruits and medical herbs based in totally locally manufacturing novel air solar heaters. In 2003, he obtained his Doctorate at Osaka Prefecture University and continued his work at the center of excellence at the same University.
